Changing Room Lockers

Changing room lockers give staff, pupils and members a secure, personal place for clothing, boots, bags and belongings in changing rooms, workplaces, schools and offices. The storage lockers in the range come in steel, aluminium, plastic and metal wire mesh, with clean and dirty lockers for workwear and PPE, multi compartment lockers for small items and charging lockers for laptops, tablets and phones. Lock options run from lock and key and hasp and staple to combination and coin or token return, so each bank can be set up for the people who use it, from assigned office staff to rotating site crews and public pool users.

Steel, mesh, aluminium and plastic changing room lockers

Steel suits dry staff rooms and offices, aluminium and plastic suit pool sides and wet changing areas, wire mesh suits sites and drying rooms where damp clothing has to air, and devices have their own charging lockers.

Steel lockers

Steel lockers are the standard metal locker for dry rooms: staff rooms, offices, school corridors and indoor changing rooms. They are configured in a choice of widths and depths, so one specification can run through a whole building and later banks match the first.

Clean and dirty lockers

Clean and dirty lockers are steel lockers with separate compartments for work clothing and personal clothing. Choose them wherever outdoor workwear and PPE should not hang beside the clothes staff travel home in, because the divided locker keeps the two apart and reduces the risk of cross contamination.

Wire mesh lockers

Wire mesh lockers, often called mesh lockers, are made from steel wire mesh. Air passes through the contents and anything inside stays visible from outside, which makes mesh the locker for damp clothing, boots and sports kit, and the type most often found in schools and on construction sites.

Stainless steel mesh lockers

Stainless steel mesh lockers keep the open mesh design and make it in 304 grade stainless steel. They are the mesh locker for rooms that stay humid or are washed down often, since the metal itself resists corrosion and does not depend on a coating.

Multi compartment mesh lockers

Multi compartment mesh lockers divide one mesh unit into 12, 16 or 20 small compartments for phones, wallets, keys and small bags. They give a large workforce, class or visiting group secure storage for personal items in a small footprint.

Aluminium wet area lockers

Aluminium wet lockers are made for humid and damp rooms, including swimming pools, leisure centres, spas, gyms, golf clubs and school changing rooms. Aluminium resists water and corrosion, so these are the metal lockers to place beside showers and on pool sides.

Plastic lockers

Plastic lockers do not rust, and they suit swimming centres, schools and workplaces where water is always present. Ultrabox plastic lockers come as full height columns. The plastic mini box lockers are smaller box units for bags and personal items. Ultrabox Plus+ is the version for lockers that stand outside, made as Ultrabox Plus+ waterproof lockers in columns and as Ultrabox Plus+ mini box lockers.

Charging lockers for laptops, tablets and phones

Lapbox laptop charging lockers are steel lockers with mains or USB charging inside, so laptops, tablets and phones charge behind a locked door. They suit schools that collect and charge pupils' devices and offices with shared laptops.

Metal Wire Lockers

Staff lockers for sites, schools, offices and leisure centres

Construction sites and welfare units

On site, the locker holds what an operative wears to work: wet hi-vis, waterproofs, boots and a hard hat at the end of a shift, and travel clothes during it. Wire mesh lets wet gear air between shifts and lets the site manager see what is stored, while clean and dirty lockers keep site clothing off personal clothing for crews who travel home in their own clothes.

Schools and colleges

Metal lockers for schools take daily use by large numbers of pupils, so the deciding factors are how many pupils each column serves and whether the locker stands in a dry corridor or a changing room beside the showers. Charging lockers and multi compartment units cover phones and devices collected during the school day.

Offices and staff rooms

Office and staff room lockers are usually assigned to one person for months or years, so the lock has to suit one long term user and the locker needs room for a coat, a bag and a change of shoes. Steel lockers in a colour that suits the interior answer most offices, with charging lockers alongside where staff share laptops or hot desk.

Swimming pools, gyms and leisure centres

Pool and gym changing rooms combine constant humidity with a changing set of users through the day, so the locker must tolerate water and wash-downs and its lock must reset for each visitor. Choose aluminium wet lockers or Ultrabox plastic lockers, and fit the plastic lockers with coin or token return locks.

Locker locks, doors and colours

Lock and key, hasp and staple, combination or coin return

Lock and key suits assigned staff who keep the same locker for a long time, with spare keys held centrally. Hasp and staple suits rotating site crews and contractors, who fit their own padlock and take it with them when they leave, so no keys go missing when the crew changes. Combination locks suit offices and schools where nobody wants to manage keys, and coin or token return locks suit public gyms and pools, where each visitor locks the door for one session. All four are available across the steel and Ultrabox plastic ranges.

One to six doors per column

Each extra door on a column serves another user from the same floor space, and each compartment gets shorter as a result. A one door full height locker takes coats on hangers, long workwear and boots, two or three doors suit a uniform and a bag, and four to six doors suit bags, helmets and personal effects in schools and gyms. Steel, aluminium and wire mesh lockers run up to six doors, and the Ultrabox plastic range up to four.

Colour coding a locker bank

Steel lockers come in red, green, blue, white and yellow, and a colour code set by the site makes a large bank quicker to manage. A site can give one colour to each department, shift, trade or year group, or keep one colour for visitors and contractors, so anyone can see which lockers belong to whom. Colour choices also run through the clean and dirty lockers, cloakroom benches and coat hooks, so a whole changing room can follow one code.

Changing Room Bench

Changing room benches, hook rails and cloakroom fittings

A changing room is planned from the locker bank outward: benches in front of the lockers, hanging along the walls or above the benches, and storage underneath.

Changing room benches

Ash timber changing room benches on mild steel frames suit site welfare units, workplaces and gyms, and come with or without a shoe shelf. A double sided changing room bench stands in the centre of a room, with users changing on both sides. Single sided cloakroom benches stand against a wall in school and office cloakrooms. For premium leisure fit-outs, aluminium cloakroom benches are built on reinforced aluminium tube frames.

Hook benches and overhead hanging benches

A changing room bench with hooks puts seating and coat hooks in one floor-standing unit, which suits rooms with more users than lockers. The steel framed hook benches do the same in single and double sided formats. The overhead hanging bench adds a hanging rail above the seat and uses the space overhead for full-length coats and garments.

Wall mounted benches, coat rails and hook strips

Where floor space is tight, the wall mounted bench fixes to the wall and leaves the floor clear for cleaning. The wall mounted shelf and rail combines a shelf and a hanging rail in one wall unit. For hooks alone, a wall mounted coat rail carries plastic hooks on a bolted rail. The wall hook strip comes in light ash timber or black polymer, and individual coat hooks fit onto strips or plain walls.

Shoe baskets, base shelves and anti-theft hangers

Under-bench shoe baskets fit beneath any length of bench in single or twin compartments, for shoes or for kit that should stay off the floor, and cloakroom base shelf slats add a slatted shelf under cloakroom benches. Shared hanging rails take anti-theft hangers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can lockers be used outdoors?

Plastic lockers are the type to choose for outdoor use. Standard Ultrabox plastic lockers can stand outside when they are covered by a shelter or canopy, and Ultrabox Plus+ lockers are waterproof and weatherproof in the open when they are ordered with the waterproof lock option. Without that lock, keep a Plus+ locker under cover as you would a standard Ultrabox.

What is a nest of lockers?

A nest of lockers is two or more locker columns built together as one unit, so a bank goes in as fewer, wider pieces. The wire mesh and stainless steel mesh lockers are ordered as a single column or as a nest of two or three, and each column keeps its own doors.

Do lockers and changing room benches need assembling?

The stainless steel mesh lockers and multi compartment mesh lockers arrive ready to use, with no assembly. The ash and steel changing room benches, including the versions with hooks and the double sided bench, come pre-drilled and go together in about ten minutes without measuring or marking. Wall mounted benches, rails and hook strips are fixed to a sound wall on site.

Can compartment lockers be ordered without doors?

Yes, the multi compartment mesh lockers are available with or without doors. The open version works as pigeonhole storage for post, issued PPE or kit that staff collect and return. The version with doors gives each user a closed compartment for phones and valuables.

How do you stop coat hangers going missing from a cloakroom rail?

Fit anti-theft hangers, which stay attached to the rail so they can be used but not carried away, and every user finds a hanger in place. They work best with the cloakroom wall mounted shelf and rail, and the overhead hanging bench comes with them fitted.
