Traffic Direction Control Plates - Sunken
HERMEQ traffic direction control plates can be sunk into the ground & incorporate an inbuilt counterbalance action. This counterbalance ensures that the traffic direction control plate returns to the upright position after a vehicle has passed over it.
These traffic flow control plates are constructed from heavy steel and designed to encourage a mono-directional flow of traffic, as well as preventing vehicles from entering if they are travelling from the opposing direction.
Our one-directional plates also have built in noise reduction buffers which prevent the common crashing metal sound in lesser models. The sunken traffic flow control plates are also suitable for installations where a substantial foundation is not already present.
Road Metric Width (mm) | Imperial (feet) | No. Of Plates Recommended |

It is worth noting that we also have heavy duty traffic direction plates available, these sunken traffic flow plates are not suitable for heavy goods vehicles (max 7.5 tonne). We also highly recommend the use of speed ramp and warning signage in conjunction with flow plates to control the speed of vehicles over the flow plates.
For long life and to prevent damage, traffic direction plates need to be maintained by regular cleaning and keeping free from debris. For corrosion protection, the flow plates are galvanised and have a hard wearing paint finish. However, gravel etc, adhered to vehicle tyres will scratch the surface during use. The greater the traffic flow, the greater the wear, so some repainting periodically may be required to maintain appearance. Wearing of the paint finish is not covered by our standard warranty.
Installation: Traffic flow directional plates that are sunk in the ground should sit on a gravel soak away (minimum 200mm deep). The sunken flow plate itself should sit in a 220mm concrete base to surround the flow plate.
Note: Directional flow plates are designed as a deterrent to create a one-way traffic flow, but it is possible to pass over them in wrong direction by determined drives with no regard to damaging their vehicle. It is important that vehicles pass over the flow plates at 90° in a straight line, so consideration must be given to location, providing sufficient distance from turning points, before and after the flow plates. Correct location will prevent damage to vehicle wheels/tyres and to the flow plates.
